Odaemin Mckay-Loescher

Aaniin, hello

My name is Odaemin (she/her) and I’m an Indigenous Registered Midwife at Seventh Generation Midwives Toronto. I graduated from the Midwifery Education program at Toronto Metropolitan University and have been at Seventh Generation Midwives Toronto since 2016. My community is Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug and I was born and raised here in Toronto.

As an Anishinaabe/Muskegowuk (Ojibwe/Cree) woman, I was always taught to protect, respect and value the importance of new life including the roles and responsibility of being a Doodiseem (Midwife). This ultimately led me to the path of Midwifery. By doing this work I’m able to honour these teachings and I strive to provide culturally safe care to families.

Outside of Midwifery, being a kookom (grandmother) to nooshihsak (my grandchildren) fills my spare time and brings me so much joy!

Additionally, I also provide support and care to SGMT clients accessing care at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in the hospitalist Midwife role along side Midwife Claire Osepchook.

Miikwec (thank you) to those of you who I have been honoured to care for and to future clients and families.
