  • I reached out to SGMT for my second baby. They were quick to reply and accept us into their clinic which I'm incredibly grateful for knowing the wait involved to secure a midwife. Jen and Odaemin were assigned as my midwives and they made us feel so comfortable off the bat, they even knew our previous midwives. We always looked forward to our appointments with Jen, and she did a wonderful job keeping things light even when things felt heavy for us with changes to the pregnancy. We ended up needing a OB through the pregnancy as well and Claire was assigned to us at Sunnybrook who was amazing and making sure we were taken care of through the process of learning whether our baby was IUGR. She answered all our questions and made sure we felt confident about next steps through many ultrasounds. Finally a few other midwives we were fortunate enough to come across in our journey who all provided wonderful care - Emma and Leah. The students were also so friendly and supportive. We were so grateful for Odaemin who ended up leading our birth and guiding us through an induction. She was patient and informative and really coached me ensuring when to push and slow down to help me tear less in this birth - which we successfully managed. We had our final appointment today and feeling incredibly grateful to this team for helping deliver our healthy baby boy. Special mention to the admin staff as well who always greeted us kindly and made us feel part of the SGMT family. Highly recommend this clinic! Thank you thank you!

  • I cannot recommend Kendra, Jen and the staff at SGMT highly enough! From the moment I found out I was expecting, they were a constant source of support, knowledge, and reassurance. They provided personalized care that made me feel truly special and understood every step of the way. During our prenatal visits, Kendra and Jen took the time to answer all my questions, address my concerns, and prepare me for the birth of my baby. Their calm and kind demeanour put me at ease, and their expertise was evident in every aspect of their care. When the big day arrived, Kendra and Jen were incredible. They were attentive, compassionate, and professional, making sure that both my baby and I were comfortable and well taken care of. Their presence made a significant difference in my birthing experience, and I am so grateful for their support. Postpartum, Kendra and Jen continued to be great resources, providing guidance on breastfeeding, newborn care, and my recovery.   • The midwives and staff at SGMT are a gift to expecting families in Toronto - especially for Indigenous families! Our midwives, Kendra and Emma, gave us the support we needed to navigate our first pregnancy in a culturally responsive way. As first time parents we had a lot of anxiety around pregnancy, labour and delivery, and postpartum. They gave us the most incredible ongoing care throughout pregnancy, which resulted in a beautiful birth experience at the Toronto Birth Centre. They were always available over the phone for any questions and concerns we had, day or night, during pregnancy and 6 weeks postpartum. Our midwives came to our home for the first two weeks following the birth of our son, which any new mom would tell you is the absolute best! Experienced, knowledgeable, and exceptionally generous with their time and energies...what more could you ask for in prenatal and postnatal care??

  • I would recommend SGMT to anyone in the downtown core seeking midwifery for their prenatal, postpartum, and newborn care. I had two amazing midwives, Kendra and Lee, who were knowledgeable, kind, and supportive and at every point they made my pregnancy and labour and delivery feel very secure. Lee was amazing with providing support and informing me what was happening during labour. Kendra was phenomenal in leading my delivery, providing postpartum care, and answering all of my concerns for my newborn. On top of that, the clinic is always very clean and staff are friendly. My baby graduated from their care back in January, and I wouldn’t have done it any other way!

My partner was initially unsure about choosing a midwife instead of an OB but he was completely won over and now tells everyone how much he would recommend going with a midwife.   • I had a wonderful experience with Seventh Generation Midwives for the birth of my son this May. Leah, Emma and Odaemin were so caring, patient and knowledgeable and made my pregnancy and postpartum experience very positive. As someone who wanted a hospital birth, I was happy with how seamlessly the midwives worked with the hospital for an additional scan that was needed and when I elected to be induced.   • I cannot imagine my first pregnancy without the support, knowledge, and expertise of SGMT. From the beginning to end, I never felt alone or more confident in my pregnancy and ability to make informed choices and decisions. My midwives were amazing and the prenatal and postnatal support absolutely invaluable. I ended up having different midwives during delivery, who were exceptional and got my baby out quick, safe, and healthy. The clinic’s admin staff is also lovely.   • I had the pleasure of being a patient/client of Seventh Generation throughout the pregnancy and birth of my daughter. I cannot say enough positive things about the team at Seventh generation. From our first appointment they made us feel comfortable and supported for our first pregnancy. They were extremely committed to ensuring all of our questions were answered and when we found out I would have to have a c-section, they made sure that I was comfortable with that procedure as well and introduced us to an amazing OB at Sunnybrook.   • I had my first with seventh generation and cannot recommend their care enough. My midwives were Leah and Tamara. I was planning a unmedicated birth and the birth centre. Throughout the months in their care I felt safe and confident in their approach. I looked forward to our appointments to chat with them and of course hang out with Susan! (front desk). I was excited to birth with either midwife knowing I was in the best hands possible. On my birthing day, my labour progressed really quickly. I was scared I had 8-10 hours of labour ahead of me, so quickly changed my mind to meet Leah at sunnybrooke instead of the birth centre as I felt I wasn’t coping well. Leah met my husband and I at the hospital, quickly checked, I was 8cm dilated! so quite close - I had a healthy baby girl 3 hrs later. Despite not being at the birth centre, my original plan, Leah ensured we kept to the original plan as much as possible. Filling the bath (I wanted a water birth), and moving forward unmedicated until I said so. I was pretty scared and Leah was my lifeline. I felt safe in her hands knowing she would do the right thing should anything happen. She quite literally held my hands through contractions with my husband all while monitoring the situation. She coached me through. I am so happy Leah was there! My after care was with Tamara. The house visits were amazing! Tamara listened with empathy to any of my concerns. Helped me with breastfeeding positions and techniques. She had helpful insights for my care/healing and our baby. Tamara was an absolute pleasure to have in our home and her visits really comforted me when I was going through an emotional roller coaster. Her encouragement meant the world to me. I truly will miss the time I spent with Leah, Tamara and Susan. This team has me already considering baby number two, only two months post! Should I decided to have another, it will be with seventh.

  • I've been with the SGMT team for two births now, and had just an overall great experience which feels like such a rare thing when interacting with the health system these days. With pregnancy being one of those rare medical things that can be good news, the midwife team here makes it truly special. The staff here are caring, knowledgeable, and just overall so supportive of the experience that YOU want. I've never felt pressured to do anything, they always happily answer questions and were so proactive in making sure my deliveries were smooth. My latest delivery went so well at Sunnybrook that I've been able to really soak in these first few weeks with my newborn and enjoy them because I've recovered so quickly, and felt my experience was so relaxed that I'm in a great headspace. I recommend SGMT to anyone who's wondering between an OB versus a midwife!
