Masking Update
May 2024
Along with Ministry and Toronto Birth Centre guidelines, we no longer require masks to be worn in the building or during appointments; however, masks remain available on site for all staff and visitors. If you would prefer your midwife and members of your health care team to be masked during your encounters please let us know.
With this change, we ask that staff and visitors make an individual choice about wearing a mask. Although the requirement is no longer in place, we would like to remind people that our communities include people who are at higher risk if they get sick and that is why SGMT encourages wearing a mask to reduce disease transmission. We must also respect the decisions of others, whether they have chosen to mask or not.
We would also like to remind everyone that you still need to stay out of the clinic if you are sick or symptomatic, and to follow public health advice about when/how to reduce infection spread after the onset of illness. A good page about this is: https://www.toronto.ca/community-people/health-wellness-care/health-programs-advice/respirat ory-viruses/covid-19/covid-19-what-you-should-do/covid-19-what-to-do-if-you-have-covid-19-s ymptoms/
It has been 4 years since the outbreak of Covid-19. We understand this transition will take time and may be difficult and triggering. If you need support with this change, please do not hesitate to reach out to SGMT leadership or any other support person you have. Finally, it is important to remind you that this policy is subject to change according to Ontario public health directives.
